With the growing move towards more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly driving, we are now registered with the DfTp (Dept. for Transport) to deliver innovative Eco-Driving courses for car drivers, and approved SaFED (Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving) training and assessments for company car, and commercial vehicle drivers. These certificated courses are designed to enhance safety whilst improving vehicle efficiency and reducing hydrocarbon emissions. As these courses are HSE compliant, they are a very cost-effective way of providing risk assessments which will satisfy HSE audit trails. The benefits of eco-driving for the individual driver, their organisation or company and to the environment in general are outlined below.
Safer driving means:-
- Reduced risk of injuries and fatalities on our roads
- Less accident damage to vehicles
- Less unproductive downtime for vehicle repair/maintenance
- Reduced risk of traffic rule transgressions
- Potential for reduced insurance premiums
- Reduced driver stress and fatigue
Fuel efficiency means:-
- Higher mpg = Lower costs
- Improved market-place competitiveness
- Enhanced profit margins
- Reduced emissions
- Improved 'carbon foot print' environmental performance
- Reduced vehicle servicing costs
Department for Transport research suggest that where vehicle operators actively monitor and manage the fuel and driving style used by company vehicles and drivers', fuel consumption can typically be reduced by 10-13% or more, with an equivalent margin of cost saving. Use of safe and fuel-efficient driving techniques as part of a fuel management programme will make a major contribution to this fuel saving.
